Type of Conflict: Man vs Environment

Describe the main conflict: Dave Conroy travelled far and is alone in the winter wilderness, the environments around around him can be worse than he thought.

Describe the Climax of the Story: The climax of the story is the moment Dave Conroy crossing the river, when the river being cracked, everyone think he going to die, and how can he solve the problem.

I think that is the most nervous moment in the story.

If this is the climax then everything after it is conclusion. Does this make sense?

How does the Protagonist change over the course of the story?

He changes over the course because he should of done what he was suppose to do but didn’t and died. Vague

Describe the relationship between the title and the theme.

I think the the theme of this story is "don't give up is the beginning of success"or " give up is the beginning of unsuccess". So if a person trying to finish a mountain journey, he will success if he don't give up. If he give up, he will never finish the full run, like this story tell us the consequence of give up.

How does the main conflict help to illustrate the theme?

The main conflict is Man vs Environment, he is fighting over this bad environment around him, he knew that was a chance to left him get out of this bad environment, so he didn't give up, that helps to illustrate the theme of the story.

How does the climax help to illustrate the theme?

when his hands fall into the icy water, he still not giving up, even his hands getting numb and cold.

That help to illustrate the theme by the spirit of non giving up.
